why is the bank involved?

why is the bank involved?

The bank has had an Ethical Policy position on human rights since 1992.

Through our investments, we seek to support the principles of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). In line with this, we will not invest in:

  • Any government or business which fails to uphold basic human rights
    within its sphere of influence
  • Any business whose links to an oppressive regime are a continuing
    cause for concern

Our customers have been vocal in their concern about human rights issues,
and 98% of our customers support the above statements on human rights.

There's a long way to go when it comes to making human rights a reality for everyone,
that's why we're campaigning with Amnesty International to raise awareness of the UDHR
and asking individuals to sign our pledge to Make the World Keep its Word.
