© Amnesty InternationalEvery day thousands of people die through lack of medicines, lack of health workers, lack of shelter, lack of food and water and lack of a decent livelihood. 840 million people are chronically malnourished while over 100 million have no access to education. Every year 11 million children die before the age of five.

This suffering should be no more inevitable than torture, false imprisonment or censorship. The right to live a life in dignity - with access to health care, education, secure housing and an adequate livelihood - is a fundamental right in no less way than the right to freely express yourself or to have a fair trial when accused of a crime.

That's why Amnesty is launching a new campaign to:

  • highlight the way that poverty and human rights violations often go hand in hand
  • empower and support those who have their rights violated
  • hold those responsible to account.
